In the last few months we have seen a lot of us cooped up at home more than we’ve ever known before.

Especially looking back to two months ago – when our freedom to visit friends and family and roam the shopping centres, gyms and public spaces swept out from beneath our feet in a hazy whirl of confusion and uncertainty – some of us haven’t known such ‘free time’ since we were teenagers!

Due to the constantly changing social-isolation and myriad restrictions (that could even be changed back if there’s a second wave), it sometimes feels theres's not much to do other than open the fridge a million times a day, try (then give up on) learning the guitar and Italian, indulge in unhealthy amounts of Netflix, and reacquaint ourselves with … ourselves.

More time alone means more time to reflect. Reflecting upon our health and wellness is always a good place to start. If you’re wanting to feel and look good, then understanding that a healthy life is a happy life is key.

It’s all rather blatantly obvious what we need to do in order to look and feel better. We need to move more, eat clean, and surround ourselves in nature and positivity. However, when it comes to maintaining or acquiring healthy skin, things get a little convoluted.

There’s just SO much for us to choose from. But if we’re all in with clean eating, keep it as clean on the outside as you do on the inside, I say! Introducing hemp seed oil. It’s a cold pressed oil derived from the tiny seeds of the cannabis sativa plant – and no, hemp seed oil cannot get you high, nor is it illicit. What it is though is incredible for our skin with its slew of optimal benefits.

Hemp seed oil is a potent power punch of vitamins, (A, B, D and E) minerals, (potassium, magnesium and zinc) and omegas (3, 6 & 9) all of which massively contribute to the health of your skin and will make it literarily beam with gratitude.

The cooler weather we’re heading into has the tendency to wreak havoc upon our skin. To avoid that typical wintery skin that’s all dry, dull, cracked, red and sore around the orifice, hemp seed oil is a great trick to reclaim that healthy, lustrous glow reminiscent of the season before. Winter definitely has a way of making our skin look more haggard and wrinkly than it actually is, too. This is greatly due to the rapid drop of humidity outside. All the aircon going on inside doesn’t help the cause either. The water in our skin evaporates drastically in dry cold air causing the dull, dry and flaky look.

Due to its high levels of healing vitamin E and its deeply hydrating qualities, hemp seed oil will soothe, nourish and combat the harshest of wind burns, chapped lips and dry skin. Cannabella’s signature balmy blend HEMP JELLY was formulated specifically to heal these types of skin woes with its nutrients accompanied by many other super healing botanicals. Hemp seed oil is non-comedogenic too, meaning it’s suitable for all skin types including those who are prone to acne, inflammation, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. It also contains high levels of anti-microbial and antibacterial properties.

Applying hemp seed oil to your face, hands, and any exposed skin will create a protective barrier that will lock in the skin's moisture due to the fatty acids it contains. And because of its incredibly high content of antioxidants, hemp seed oil will battle free radicals and it will assist in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles all the while shielding new skin and encouraging new cell formation.

Hemp seed oil will breathe life right back into your skin. It will help to even out your skin tone and blemishes and it will boost the overall appearance and health of your skin, leaving it looking and feeling smooth, soft, bright, invigorated and well-cared for. It’s definitely something to consider adding to your skin and beauty routine this winter as it’s basically the best kept secret for a rejuvenated glow the weather cannot provide!
